As we move into May, we’re excited to share what’s been happening at Octopus Cloud. This month’s update brings a mix of product enhancements: we’re rolling out powerful new features across data collection, authorization, and widgets. Below you’ll find a quick overview of what’s new in the platform:
New Features
We’ve introduced several new capabilities to make Octopus Cloud more powerful, flexible, and easier to integrate into your environment.
Collector
We’ve expanded the Collector to support more platforms and discovery scenarios, including:
- Linux scanning
- OpenNebula hypervisors
- Direct scans for VMware vCenter and ESXi hosts
This gives you broader coverage across heterogeneous infrastructures.
Data
We have separated software components from software packages, resulting in clearer data organization and more precise reporting. This helps you better understand relationships between components, packages, and installations.
General
We introduced a new authorization feature that enables granular access control throughout the application, allowing you to align permissions with your internal role and security concepts.
In addition, we now support rootless Docker installations to simplify deployment and enhance security in containerized environments.
Widgets
Widgets are now more flexible and easier to align with your reporting needs. You can set custom anchor point dates for custom widgets, letting you define exactly how time periods are calculated and displayed.
Improvements
Alongside new features, we’ve delivered a series of improvements to stability, performance, and usability.
Backups
Database backups have been streamlined and now run exclusively on a daily schedule, ensuring consistent and predictable data protection with a simpler setup.
Data Sources
We have added support for CloudStack port definitions within target address configurations, enabling more accurate and comprehensive network discovery in CloudStack-based environments.
Widgets
Custom period widgets now support itemized data viewing, giving you a more detailed breakdown of your metrics and trends over the selected time range.
Other Enhancements
We’ve implemented a variety of UI improvements and performance optimizations across the platform to provide a smoother and faster user experience.
